Water Heater Installation & Replacement
Our plumbers can install water heating systems in new structures, as well as replace water heaters in existing homes and businesses. If you are looking to replace your water heater, or maybe upgrade to a tankless water heating system, we can help you decide on the most affordable and efficient system to meet your needs.
Leaking Water Heaters
Leaks in water heaters are caused by rust and corrosion at the bottom of the tank. If you find your water heater has begun to leak, you will probably need to have us replace it because the tank it self is not replaceable. Leaks in supply lines can be repaired, without the need to replace the water heater.
Water Heaters Not Properly Heating
Water that is not warm enough, or does not last as long as it should, can often be caused by failing parts in the system such a heating element or pilot light. You also may not have a large enough water heater to meet your needs.
Loud Water Heaters
Water heaters that are noisy, hum, crack or pop may need to be serviced. For example, sediment deposits in the bottom of the tank can lead to all types of strange sounds coming from your water heater, and probably needs cleaning. Failing parts can also be responsible. Regular maintenance on your water heating system can reduce the noise made, while extending the life of the appliance as well.
Types of Water Heaters
Electric Tank Water Heaters
Electric tank water heaters are very common, and are the most affordable to purchase and install. Operating costs will be greater in the long run, but the efficiency of the system does not match gas or tankless water heaters. The good thing is, today’s electric tank water heaters are more energy efficient than the ones built years ago, thanks to Energy Star certified models.
Gas Tank Water Heaters
Gas water heaters are more expensive to purchase and install upfront, but can save you money in the long run. It takes less energy to heat water with gas, than it does electricity. Less energy means you will have a lower operational cost over time. Gas water heaters also have a faster recovery time compared to electric models, and will work during power outages, unlike electric water heaters.
Tankless Water Heaters
Tankless, or on-demand water heaters do cost more, but are designed to last 20 years, which means savings in the long run. Water is flash heated right before you use it, preventing the need to constantly maintain the temperature of water in a large tank. By immediately heating the water you eliminate the waste of standby energy found with traditional tank water heaters, leading to long term savings that will outweigh the initial installation cost, as well as reducing your overall energy usage, which is better for the environment.
Tankless water heaters should be flushed once a year to eliminate mineral buildup and calcium in the unit.
